Somebody catch me up on what the heck this is? I'm so out of the loop from here.
NBC moved Jay Leno to an earlier time slot and gave Conan O'Brien (a.k.a. Coco) The Tonight Show (which was Jay Leno's gig). Jay's ratings in the earlier time slot are nowhere near what they were when he was still on The Tonight Show. NBC wants to push Conan back to midnight and give Jay Leno his old time slot.
Conan is resisting the move, and understandably so. He's waited years (literally) for The Tonight Show. NBC brass threatened to keep him out of work for three and a half years if he didn't take a dive for Jay.
Conan's fans are furious.
I think both men are incredibly funny. I love Leno, he's hilarious, he's a car lover, he's pretty conservative. BUT, I don't think it's fair to Conan to move him back.
They did Coco wrong! But he'll survive... barely. NBC just offered him $45 million to walk away. And he took it! Good for him.
So what do you think he'll do next? I guess Craigslist could give a few ideas...
